General Tso’s Chicken for today’s candle light dinner
General Tso’s Chicken combines deep fried crispy chicken pieces in a tangy, sweet and spicy sauce served as an appetizer.
Ingredients :-
For the chicken:
- 500 gm boneless chicken cubes
- 2 eggs
- salt
- pepper
- 2 tsp sesame seeds
- 2 tbsp sliced spring onions (greens)
- 1/2 cup refined flour
- 1/2 cup cornflour
- oil
For the sauce:
- 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 tbsp cornflour
- oil
- 2 tsp minced garlic
- 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
Method :-
- Beat the eggs in a bowl and add salt and pepper.
- Mix flour and cornstarch in a bowl and leave aside.
- Dip the chicken cubes first into the egg mixture, then, in the flour mixture.
- Heat oil in a frying pan and fry the chicken cubes until golden brown. Drain them on paper napkins.
- Heat oil in a frying pan and add the garlic and red pepper flakes and cook for a while.
- Mix chicken broth, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, soy sauce and corn starch in a bowl thoroughly and add the mixture to the pan. Simmer until the sauce thickens.
- Add the chicken cubes to the pan and mix with the sauce.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and spring onions (green) and serve your General Tso’s chicken.
