Captain George Pollard, Jr.: “Normally a captain gets to choose his first mate”

Owen Chase: “An experienced captain, yeah”

Ron Howard’s latest adaptation of Nathaniel Philbrick’s acclaimed non-fiction book “In the Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex” is about the real incident that partly inspired Herman Mellville’s novel “Moby-Dick“— which narrates the  destruction of a whaling vessel caused by an angry gigantic whale. It talks about the encounter’s devastating repercussion, as the ship’s surviving crew is pushed to do the unfathomable to stay alive.

Defying storm, starvation and anguish, the men will be forced to question their deepest convictions, from the value of their lives to the virtue of their trade, as their captain searches for direction in the sea and the first mate (Chris Hemsworth) continues to bring down the whale.

Herman Melville: “Something else you’ve given me tonight”
Old Thomas Nickerson: “And what’s that?”
Herman Melville: “The courage to go where one does not want to go”

Chase Walking Nantucket is one of the most beautiful soundtracks apart from Homecoming, Abandon Ship and Young Nickerson.
