Here and there – pure nonsense

Some thoughts here and there, you may agree, you may not agree, either ways worth grazing through.

  • Failure is yours, success is ours. It’s always like that. Accept it.
  • English is not just a very funny language, it’s cruel too. Any international arbitration will validate that.
  • Return compassion for every ruthlessness because that moves souls, atleast it will move some.
  • Stand by people when they need you even if that meant turning down opportunities, for the bond that you develop then is something much beyond trust and it lives a lifetime. They will always have the best interest of you in their hearts.
  • Never look back because nothing fails like success, absolutely nothing.
  • If the intent is good, ignore the words.
  • Your product should be a reflection of you. Build it that ways. You can’t preach without practising. It’s either born out of love or competition. And it’s always beautiful if it’s born out of love.
  • Choose an industry that compliments your character.
  • Candor, and not diplomacy, saves billions and perhaps, companies too. People take time to acknowledge that.
  • Never let anything determine what you want to do. Don’t get enslaved in any domain or industry. Life is bigger than that. Live it that ways.
  • Learn to say “No”. It’s tough saying that to some but it keeps distraction at bay.
  • Sometimes it’s just one thing that turns around everything. Find that, you don’t have to do everything or be everything.
  • Just be true to yourself, you can’t impress all. Those who care will do so no matter what.
  • No one would ever give you a solution, people love to discuss problems and people off course. You have to find your own way.
  • Never over – promise and under – deliver. Do the reverse. You will earn a lot of respect.
  • Keep yourself off bureaucratic people. They kill creativity and they waste a bunch of time. Find shared sensibilities.
  • Never follow anyone blindly. Different people have different experiences. It’s circumstances that create a hero. They are not born. Have your style. If you copy, you can never lead. You can’t be Steve Jobs, you may not have had his kind of experience.
  • Let your work be your biggest reference. Empty vessels make all that noise.
  • Never trade off your virtues to take a shortcut, you have to be answerable somewhere. You got to have something non-negotiable about your character or company.
  • If you have experienced both sides of the coin – the very bitterness of failure and the same very highs of success in possibly the shortest time ever, you will know that it really doesn’t matter anymore. What is more important is whether you do what you believe is good work.
  • It’s often said that if you can do one thing good in your career, you can live off the reputation for a long time. Don’t you think it’s foolish?
  • Have you ever played golf? People may sometimes just compete with you without a reason. Stretch yourself, why worry about the rest.
  • Why do you always have to put somebody down to rise up? Can’t you just do it on your own potential?
  • Stop being a rat, whether you run it or win it, you are still a rat even if you never wanted to get into it.
  • Before you learn, try to unlearn. That helps. No two industries are similar but the dynamics will appear pretty known. And if you think you have it in you, do it without any reference. You will be amazed to see how big some signatures in emails are.
  • US/Europe can never match the BRIC in loyalty. That’s their spirit and they may not like to sell it always.
  • Never let anyone wait no matter how busy you are. Unless you are the US President, you have no reasons to appear that busy.
  • The narrow minded manage, the broad minded lead and they create many more leaders behind them. Your legacy should live on. Those who don’t are not sure of themselves. What’s your choice?
  • I/We – get used to the latter. Alone, you can go faster, together, you will go far. I, me, myself, that kills everything.
  • Certain relationships are hard to buy and some work ethics are even harder to replicate. Some things are never quite the same and perfect as they used to be.
  • Give more, it gives you a reason to live. Read the “Gift of Magi”. Perhaps, you’ve forgotten school. People who doubt such intentions have actually had a very poor brought up. Sympathize with them. Some can never rise up to such levels of thinking.
  • B2B v/s B2C – choose B2C. It will bring you closer to yourself. Don’t waste your life bearing with corporate tantrums.
  • “I trust you”, perhaps, the hardest thing. When did you last say that?
  • Comment only if you can improve it or else you have no authority to do so. If you can’t do anything good for a person, why be critical and bad to him.
  • Choose speed, perfection shall follow.
  • Sacrifice is a virtue. Letting go is hard but the rewards are immense.
  • Chase excellence, success will have no choice. If you have witnessed it, you will relate to it. Excellence is a journey and not a destination.
  • Don’t be bitter if they are older than you and apologize if that saves a relationship even if you were not wrong. Asians and Americans have very different working styles and the cultural difference should show.
  • Except intelligence, honesty and good hearts, don’t let yourself get intimidated by anything. Every other thing is pure nonsense.
  • Tough times doesn’t test your skills or expertise, it only tests your strength of character.
  • Focus where nobody focuses. In crisis, that helps because generally people are busy saving their own skins and passing the blame.
  • Change paths if there’s a conflict of principles. It’s wise. You need to see for yourself a common vision.
  • When you let go, you always keep the vital part with you – the experience.
  • Write a big success story and move on and do it fast. You can’t wait longer to reap its benefits for then you hinder your own growth.
  • No industry is tough or newer to learn. You will make mistakes, you will fail and that’s okay. You can live with a failure but you may not want to live with the thought that you gave up too early. Don’t take yourself so seriously. You never know whether you will get to see tomorrow or not.
  • Don’t get so busy collecting stones that you end up missing diamonds on the way. Classes can never appeal to masses.
  • Be accountable. That makes a lot of difference.
  • The bigger the name, sometimes, the lower the levels to which they get down to. You can never imagine that.
  • Don’t deal with the short – term players. You will figure it out in a few interactions.
  • Put the wrong guy in the right job and you will see the blunder.
  • Treat others the way you would want to be treated. Sometimes, its fun to not reveal your identity and you will get to experience the real nature.
  • Being opinionated is the favorite pastime of many. Take criticism with a lot of dignity and never give up.
  • Miracles, and sometimes the impossible happen. Some may call it sheer good luck only to overlook the honest efforts. The impossible happens when you always had a bigger faith in destiny more than any other thing. You should have a passionate disregard for the impossible and things will fall in place.
  • Knowledge/information is never a threat. It’s application that separates the best from the rest. Sharing knowledge is a reflection of leadership. Did you forget the saying, “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”.
  • Be real, don’t fake. It shows.
  • Never follow a rule if that expects you to be mean to someone. You will never be able to live with that guilt. Even if that means standing alone and standing against the powerful.
  • Results change minds and they change rules too. Focus on performance.
  • Times change, people change faster. Change yourself if it’s for good or else wait for others to change their views and yes they do change.
  • Don’t ask questions, people will often tell you that. It’s better to appear foolish than to make a fool out of yourself later.
  • There are no right or wrong decisions. There are decisions and there are consequences. You will have to learn to deal with it.
  • It may sometimes be tough building and leading self-competing teams. The best you could do is to remain fair even at the cost of being often misunderstood.
  • The most tempting part is to determine the exit and perhaps, the toughest one too. Hang your boots when your own terms are met.
  • And being judged all the time is tough to handle but going to bed with the thought that people will always love to talk about you is great indeed. At times, it will hurt you, yes it will certainly do, but then doesn’t behind every envy lie a secret admiration?
  • Be a good person first, you can be everything else later.

After all, life is much too short and way too beautiful to not live it on your own terms. You bet!
