Kung Pao Chicken

Kung Pao chicken is a popular traditional stir-fried Chinese dish made of stir-fried chicken, peanuts and vegetables in a savory sauce.

Ingredients :-

for the stir fry

  • 500 gm boneless chicken cubes
  • 1 tbsp corn starch
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • oil
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 5 sliced dried red chillies
  • 1/2 cup roasted unsalted peanuts
  • 1 diced red bell pepper
  • 1 diced yellow bell pepper
  • 1 diced capsicum
  • pepper
  • salt
  • 1 tbsp chopped spring onions

for the sauce

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1 tbsp corn starch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp sugar

 

Method :-

  • Mix chicken with cornstarch, salt and pepper in a bowl.
  • Heat oil in a frying pan over high flame and cook the chicken for a few minutes until both sides are golden brown. Remove the chicken from the pan and keep aside.
  • Heat oil in the pan and add the onion, red and yellow bell peppers and capsicum and cook until tender.
  • Add garlic and cook for a while. Add chicken, peanuts and chillies and stir thoroughly.
  • Whisk all the ingredients required for sauce in a bowl. Add the sauce to the above chicken mixture and bring it to a boil. Cook until the sauce is thickened.
  • Garnish with spring onions before serving Kung Pao Chicken.
