Hunan Chicken

Are you game for Hunan Chicken?

After our Kung Pao Chicken has won several hearts, to honor the growing demand to bring more Chinese recipes to the table, our next recipe is Hunan Chicken.

Hunan chicken is a famous Chinese-American dish made with thinly sliced chicken breasts cooked with vegetables in a spicy sauce.

Ingredients :-

  • 500 gm thinly sliced chicken breasts
  • oil
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1/2 cup thinly sliced celery
  • 1 diced red bell pepper
  • 1 cup canned baby corn (drained)
  • 2 tsp vinegar
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 2 tsp chili paste
  • 1 1/2 tsp minced garlic
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce

Method :-

  • Coat chicken with 1/4 cup cornstarch and leave aside. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add the chicken and cook for a few minutes each side until golden brown.
  • Drain the chicken on paper napkins.
  • Add broccoli, bell pepper and celery to the pan and cook for a while. Add baby corn, salt, pepper and garlic and cook for some time.
  • Mix chicken with the vegetables in the pan.
  • Whisk soy sauce, oyster sauce, vinegar, chilli paste, honey and chicken broth with 2 tsp cornstarch in a bowl and pour it over the chicken and vegetable mixture.
  • Cook on medium to low flame for a couple of minutes until the sauce thickens.
  • Serve your Hunan Chicken hot.
